Dev Day scheduled for Sunday, August 19th

The day after WordCamp, we’ll be holding a Dev Day. It’ll be from 12 to 6 pm at the US Bancorp Tower in downtown Portland.

“What’s a Dev Day, and why should I attend?” you might ask? Well, it’s an opportunity to explore code at many levels. We’ll have a few technical talks lined up, as well as plenty of space for you to collaborate with your peers. If you’re stuck on a plugin, need a code review, are looking for feedback on a difficult problem, or simply want to talk about the latest and greatest with WordPress, the Dev Day is your place to be.

If you think you’ll be there, we’d love to hear from you (we need a head count). Please leave a comment and let us know what you’d like to get out of the day.

  1. I will be there – I am a newbbie WP plugin/make custom changes etc/programmer and I dont have a roomful of peers that I can bother with questions. So anything and everything is good for me. This is something that I will be looking forward to. !!!!!

    • Great! We’ll make sure there’s something for those looking to get into WordPress development too.

      • I am hoping to attend this event. I always LOVE hearing reviews of the “latest and greatest” WordPress plugins. Who knows? I may be inspired to take the leap into learning how to create my own. Thanks for sharing this opportunity!

  2. I will am excited to say I will be there. I’m always excited to talk code and give/get help. Community knowledge is always better than a single person’s knowledge.

  3. I’ll be there! I think it’d be great to jump-start a nifty plugin or two that would have wide community appeal. Let’s bring our ideas!

    • Awesome! We’ll have Jane to talk about contributing to the WordPress.org project in general, and plenty of devs to talk about their experiences contributing to core.

  4. Count me in! I’m sure I’ll learn something on Saturday that I’ll want to dive right into Sunday so I don’t forget 🙂
Plugin dev and contributing to core are always good topics!

  5. I’ll be there, hoping someone wants to talk about memcached or nginx, and terrified that I’ll end up in a conversation about css and reveal my ignorance 🙂

  6. I’ll be there working on a contribution to Ndizi Project Management that I’ve been pecking away at for several months now – I’m almost ready to forward a patch on, but I need to figure out a good UI for attachments. Will hopefully pick brains for this one. 🙂

  7. I plan on being there. I’m sure there will be topics brought up on Saturday that will stimulate discussion, and I’m open to talking just about any kind of WP geekery. But if I had to propose a topic now, I’d like to discuss ideas for adding to core especially in the wp_editor / tinymce areas and media uploader & library – not that I have any concrete ideas for what to do, but those are my biggest frustrations out of what I’m doing at the moment and I’d love to contribute to helping make them better,

  8. I will be there. Looking forward to helping others improve WordPress code, as well as working on a few projects of my own and getting feedback from others.
