Not From Portland?

Are you coming to WordCamp Portland from out of town? Please be aware that the weather is likely to be deceptively* gorgeous and make you want to live here.

Accommodations: If you are not staying with friends, perhaps you’ll want to get a hotel room. Inexplicably, most of our better-known hipster hotels are booked for WCPDX weekend, but the map below indicates some alternatives.  All are within a 5-10 minute cab ride or 15 minute bus ride to Norse Hall, which is located at 111 N.E. 11th, Portland, OR 97232.

If you’re interested in booking through airbnb.com, neighborhoods close-in would include downtown, the Pearl, Buckman, and Irvington.

We’ve also marked some favorite restaurants in and around the venue area. Portlanders and Portland afficionados, please add your must-see destinations!

Transportation: Portland has an excellent mass-transit system and is a haven for cyclists. (If you decide to take the bus, the nearest bus route to Norse Hall is number 20.) If you don’t like busses, light rail, or bikes, though, Radio Cab is a great local company. You can also use car-sharing services like zipcar and Car2Go.

*The 2-ish months of summer in Portland are a lot of why natives endure the other 10 months of rain; you’ve been warned!
